Writ filed by Sanjit's mother ; Go to Sessions Court : HC

A Division Bench of High Court of Manipur
comprising Chief Justice LK Mohapatra and Justice Kh Nobin
today disposed the writ petition filed by Chungkham Taratombi,
mother of Chungkham Sanjit, stating that it would be better and
proper if the petition is filed at Sessions Court, Imphal West, where
trial for July 23 Khwairamband bazar incident is going on.
Speaking to reporters, petitioner's counsel Khaidem Mani
said that they would file a fresh writ petition at Sessions
Court, Imphal West soon.
He further said that during today's writ petition hearing, he
submitted the case study to the Division Bench pleading the
Court to direct the authority concerned to carry out a fresh
investigation into the July 23 Khwairamband bazar incident
under Section 226.
Khaidem Mani said that the Division Bench observed that
the petitioner can approach the High Court again if her writ
petition case is rejected by Sessions Court, Imphal West.
It may be mentioned that the writ petition case was filed
by Chungkham Taratombi of Khurai Sajor Leikai against three
respondents - Union of India through the Secretary, Ministry
of Personnel and Training, Government of India New Delhi,
Director CBI, Lodhi road, New Delhi and SP, CBI Imphal
branch, Manipur.
The writ petition pleaded the Court to direct CBI to conduct
a fresh investigation based on the recent confession made by
suspended Head Constable Th Herojit regarding the killing of
Chungkham Sanjit on July 23, 2009 at Khwairamband bazar The writ petition was filed after CBI, Imphal branch failed to take
up any positive steps despite a written application submitted by
Taratombi for further investigation into the death of her son after
Herojit's confession.
In her application, Taratombi also requested
the CBI to submit an additional/supplementary charge sheet
against the police officers and politicians who allegedly ordered
that her son be killed.
