The Manipur Commission for
Protection of Child Rights
(MCPR) has started the formu-
lation of the State Child Protection Policy in collaboration with Manipur Alli-
ance for Child Rights (MACR) and Child Rights and You (CRY).
A one day consultation meeting was held for the purpose
of framing the policy in October 2015.The meeting was
chaired by MPCR Chairperson S Saratkumar Sharma and
other child rights activists.
During the meeting, the representa-
tives resolved to include chapters on Fundamental of Child
Protection, Article of UN CRC, Legal Framework for Protec-
tion in India, Appropriate Standards of Behaviour for
employees/staffs, Institutional Responsibilities and complaint
mechanism in the policy document.
Representatives of Line Departments, Social Welfare, Po-
lice Department, Judiciary, Labour Department, Education
Department, Urban Development, Health and Family Welfare,
Public Relations, Law and NGOs would be consulted.
A State
level committee with the representatives of Line Department
in order to examine the policy.
