31st National Road Safety Week kick starts

The 31st National Road Safety Week 2020, organised by Transport Department, GoM was kicked off at ISBT, Dewlahland today.
Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu graced the function as the chief guest while DGP Manipur L M Khaute attended as the president.
IPR Commissioner M Joy, Transport Department Director Marcina R Panmei, Traffic Control Wing SP K Sarma Chanu and NCC Brigadier RS Sethi were also present at the inauguration of the week long event.
Memento and certificates were distributed to State police personnel and wheel clamps were handed over as well.
Speaking at the event, DGP LM Khaute underlined the need to formulate new policies on motor vehicles and traffic rules and update them with time.
However, these rules and regulations will lay useless if the public fails to follow them, he said.
Expressing concern over the frequent traffic congestion in Imphal city, he stated that the citizens should try to follow the exact rules and regulations of MV and traffic apart from driving with discipline as traffic control will not be able to solve this matter.
As part of the event, a free medical camp was also opened followed by flagging of a cycle rally to give awareness about the event.
