Skill India Mission in Northeast Region

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy has said that there are various schemes for skill development implemented in North Eastern Region.
Besides, Government has introduced Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) in March, 2015 which is a reward based, demand driven scheme aiming to enable and mobilise a large number of Indian youth to take up skill training, become employable and earn their livelihood.
The scheme targets to benefit 24 lakh persons with training of 14 lakh fresh entrants and certification of 10 lakh persons under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
As on 23.11.2015, in North Eastern region including Arunachal Pradesh, 20,618 persons have been enrolled and 16, 287 persons trained and certified under PMKVY.

He said, the Vocational Training Improvement Project (VTIP), interalia, envisages upgradation of 400 ITIs.
34 State Governments/UTs including NE States are participating under the project.
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday the Minister said, a total of 15 ITIs are covered in North-Eastern region including Arunachal Pradesh for upgradation under the Project.
Cost sharing between Center and NE State is 90:10.Under the Project, Rs.339 lakhs has been released to the State of Arunachal Pradesh against which the State has utilized Rs.296 lakhs.
