Tamenglong comes alive to Orange Fest

Tamenglong, December 09 2015:
The 12th Orange Festival was held today at Lower ground, Tamenglong district headquarters.
Chief Minister O Ibobi and Dy CM Gaikhangam attended the festival organised jointly by Horticulture and Soil Conservation Dept and district administration, Tamenglong as the chief guest and chief host respectively.
Exhibition and sale of oranges and other craft items, presentation of cultural items and other extravaganzas like Orange Queen contest marked the festival.

Speaking at the occasion, Chief Minister O Ibobi said Tamenglong district accounts for 70 percent of total orange production of the State.
This is possible with the collective efforts of Horticulture Dept, DRDA, farmers and other stakeholders.
Saying that farmers and other stakeholders need more efforts to enhance orange production, O Ibobi appealed to the experts and scientists of Central Agricultural University (CAU) and ICAR to provide valuable inputs to increase.
