Imphal, September 09, 2009:
Around 100 womenfolk have stormed the MPCC Office here this evening around 4.30 as a part of the agitation launched by Apunba Lup for the ouster of Ibobi in the wake of Khwairamband incident.
Police have allowed six women protestors to meet the MPPCC president Gaikhangam later.
Gaikhangam was reported to have told the women representatives that he would convey the matter to AICC leader Sonia Gandhi.
He also told them that Ibobi, who also holds the Home portfolio, will also be intimated the matter.
The MPCC president was also said to tell the womenfolk that removal of the CM depends on the Congress High Command at the Centre.
He also said that a meeting of the MPCC will be convened to decide the steps to be taken regarding the Khwairamband incident.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the reply of the MPCC president Gaikhangam, the womenfolk told reporters that the demands for the removal of CM Ibobi from his post and the immediate release of the Apunba Lup leaders would be intensified.
The womenfolk have also shouted slogans against the Congress government and the chief minister-ship of Ibobi in front of GM hall.
Meanwhile, reacting to the affidavit of DGP on Tehelka exposure, a statement issued by the Apunba Lup today affirmed to continue against the SPF government's killing regime until the demands are fulfilled.
The statement noted that if not the trend of killing people is not stopped, the history of Manipur may close.
It urged the political parties to pressurise the leaderships at Delhi for the ouster of Ibobi and to stop the killing of innocent people.
It also observed that the killing of six people in a reported encounter at Awang Khunou Lamkhai on September 8 was an indication that Ibobi never regard the people of Manipur.
