Donned black cloths, the Christian communities in Kangpokpi DHQs were seen going to their respective Churches for prayer services and special mourning hymns singing service which began from 11 am till 3 pm, as it is believed that Christ was crucified in this particular duration.
Many Christian families observed the day with fasting and prayer to honour the sacrifices of Jesus Christ while some held special prayer sessions reading verses of the Bible and enlightening the children about the Jesus Christ, from birth to death, his teachings, etc.

were also seen closed observing the Good Friday as a public holiday.
Meanwhile, KSO Sadar Hills monitored the directive of the Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District not to apply the Government's declaration of Good Friday as full working day in the district.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of Good Friday observation at Kpi DHQs, Jampu Kipgen, secretary, KBC Centre Church, Kangpokpi said that since the dawn of Christianity in the hills of Manipur, Christians have been celebrating Good Friday as one solemn event throughout and the earlier order of the Government declaring the day as full working day came as a big blow to the Christian community.
"The State Government orders can be considered as an infringement upon the strong fabric of secularism and the Constitution of India", asserted the Church secretary while adding that things would have been different unless the various civil society organizations based in hill districts have not objected the Government's orders.
Meanwhile, Senapati DHQs wore a deserted look today with all business establishments, institutions and Government offices closed throughout the day.
The Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) also monitored the directive of Naga People's Organization which strongly opposed the Government's orders.
