Imphal, September 21 2013 :
On the charge of entertaining students, table, chairs and counter-booth Raju Restaurant, Airport Road were set ablaze by volunteers of DESAM today.
Speaking to media persons at their office this afternoon, DESAM general secretary Arambam Thoithoi claimed that they have been repeatedly appealing to all restaurateurs not to entertain students in their restaurants in order to protect the sanctity of school uniforms and reduce crimes against women.
But some restaurateurs paid little attention to the repeated appeals forcing DESAM volunteers to vandalise their restaurants.
There is no question of DESAM preventing any one from running restaurants provided the restaurants are managed in decent manner.
Today too, furniture and counter-booth of Raju Restaurant were set ablaze for entertaining students.
The furniture items were taken outside and set ablaze because the restaurant was attached to a house.
DESAM was informed by the Ching-Tam Women Development, Keishamthong Thangjam Leirak that Raju Restaurant was entertaining students, said Thoithoi while once again appealing to all restaurateurs not to entertain students.
