Co-ordinating Body of Trade Union, Manipur has urged the Central Government to provide permanent National Highway protection force in Manipur.
Chairman of the body, Laishram Sotin Kumar said today that National Convention of Workers was held on August 6 at Mavlankar Hall in New Delhi where the Manipur chapter of the Trade Union had placed the matter in the convention that the Central government provide permanent protection force for the national highways in Manipur.
Sotin Kumar then said that in the convention, they had also urged to complete the repairing works of the National Highway 37 at the earliest.
In this connection, according to Sotin Kumar, the Co-ordinating Body of the Trade Union, Manipur had also submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister of India through Lok Sabha MP from Manipur Th Meinya demanding that if the BRO/BRTF is not competent enough to maintain the NH-37, then the Ministry of Defence, Military Engineering cell should take charge in maintaining the national highway.
Meanwhile, Laishram Sotin Kumar the suspended All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) agitation is likely to resume from next month as the government of India did not respond to the demands of the Union.
A 48-hour nation-wide bandh was held on February 20 and 21 against the price rise and to materialise its 10-pont charter of demand.
