Govt employees protest in support of Parliament dharna

Supporting the Parliament dharna of All India State Government Employees Federation (AISGEF) and Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers (CCGEW) carried out at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi today, several employees of the State Government staged a protest demonstration at Manipur Secretariat North Block and later submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
By the sideline of the demonstration today, general secretary of Manipur Government Services Federation (MGSF) Lairikyengbam Purujit said that different modes of demonstration were staged in all States and Union Territories in support of the Parliament dharna.
He said that a memorandum each listing their demands will be submitted to all District Collectors/Magistrates as a part of the protest.
The resolution to hold the Parliament dharna was taken during the National convention of AISGEF and CCGEW held at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi on February 11 and 12 .
Stating that the demonstration demands fulfilment of seven charter of demands served by AISGEF and CCGEW, he added that the demands include revival of Old Pension Scheme, regularisation of all contract, outsourced and daily wage employees, establishment of 8th Central Pay Commission, filling up of vacant posts at Central/State/PSU departments, clearance of DA/DR including arrear, removal of restrictions placed on compassionate employment and fulfilment of democratic trade union rights.
L Purujit said that they have been appealing to the successive Governments to fulfil their demands since 2005 .
Later, the demonstrators submitted a memorandum listing their demands to the Chief Minister.
