Manipur Science and Technology in association with National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELT) celebrated National Science Day, 2015 at NIELT, Akampat today.
The first State Science Communicator Award was alsopresented during the celebration.
The Science Day celebration was attended by Additional Secretary (Sc&Tech) Kh Raghumani Singh, National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology Director Th Pameshwor Singh and Manipur Science and Technology Council Director Th Surendranath Singh as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
National Science Day is celebrated in India on February 28 each year to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian physicist Sir Chandrasekhar Venkata Raman on February 28, 1928 .
Th Surendranath Singh, during his speech, said National Science day has been observed since 1986 in honour of CV Raman.
In all, the Nation has presented Science Communicator Award to three persons.
The State is introducing similar award starting this year, on State level titled 'State Science Communicator Award 2015' .
The same has been conferred on Thongbam Uthan of Ngairangbam Makha Leikai during the celebration today.
The State Science Communicator Award 2015 carries a cash reward of Rs 10,000 and a citation.
