ZUF claims on shoot-out

The militant group Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) expressed surprise that three army personnel were killed and five other injured in an armed confrontation between NSCN-IM and ZUF yesterday at the border area of Luangreng and Tamlok villages of Tamenglong district.
In a statement, A Dangmei, information and publicity secretary of ZUF said that the incident that occurred on Feb 27 in the border of Luangreng village and Tamlok village wherein a combined forces of the army and NSCN-IM launched offensive against the ZUF was one of the 'most acrimonious' incidents in Tamenglong district.
The Front is aware that there is no long term friend and no long term enemy in pursuit of power, but there is no logic for the nation's protectors in joining hands with the nation's enemy, it said while questioning if this was a 21st century military strategy of the Army or a new policy to subjugate the people.
The outfit also expressed embarrassment over the involvement of the Army in the incident executed with an intention to uproot the ZUF, who were the followers of Rani Gaidinliu's ideology.
It demanded clarification in this regard.
The incident and the operation planned by the NSCN-IM is a direct threat to the peaceful environment and may cause disturbances to the innocent Zeliangrong people, it said while warning the NSCN-IM to refrain from carrying out biased policy.
