Boy hurt in blast ahead of President visit

Imphal, April 15 2013:
A 10-year old boy sustained injuries when a bomb exploded in front of Lilong Girls High Madrassa at Lilong along Imphal-Moreh road yesterday.
The incident occurred around 6:55 am yesterday.
The injured boy has been identified as Md Nasimuddin, s/o Md Karimuddin of Lilong Uku Makhong Leikai.
According to police report, locals of Lilong informed the police that a bomb was found planted in front of Lilong Girls High Madrassa in Lilong along Imphal-Moreh road at around 5 am yesterday.
Immediately, Lilong police rushed in to take stock of the situation.
However, minutes before the team could reach the spot, the bomb went off injuring the boy.
He sustained splinter injuries on his right shoulder.
He was given treatment in a nearby private clinic.

Soon after the blast occurred, Manipur Police and personnel of 40 AR posted at Lilong Police Station arrived and sealed the road.
The combined team then conducted search operation in and around the area in which they come across three suspected persons who fled away along Lilong Arapti by crossing Iril River.
The impact of the remote controlled bomb blast left a dugout on the ground about 8 inches in depth.
The bomb experts of the Manipur Police also recovered another bomb, just few metres away on the eastern side of the blast area.
The bomb weighed around 3 kg.
In connection with the incident, PRO IGAR), however, stated that troops of 40 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under HQ IGAR (South) detected a Remote Controlled IED near Lilong, Dist Thoubal at 6:30 am on 14 April 2013.The team of 40 Assam Rifles rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area and stopped the traffic to avert any casualty.
The Explosive Detector Dog was brought into action and it confirmed the presence of explosives in the two suspicious items, each placed on either side of the road.
Police BD team was informed immediately.
The team of 40 Assam Rifles was searching the nearby houses at around 0705 hours, when one of the IEDs kept to the east side of the road blasted in which one civilian sustained superficial injuries.
The second IED, kept to west of road was diffused by Police BD team.
Both the IEDs were remote controlled and remote control circuit and battery along with explosives suspected to be RDX were recovered.
The weight of recovered IED is approximately 3kg.High sense of responsibility and proactive actions of the troops of 40 Assam Rifles resulted in averting a major damage and loss to life and property as also thwarting the nefarious designs of the UG groups.
Meanwhile, proscribed RPF has claimed that the bomb blast was carried out by a Special Warfare Group of its armed group, People's Liberation Army (PLA) .
In a statement signed by Bangkim, Chief of the Department of Publicity, RPF said that apart from attacking the camp of 116th Battalion of BSF (D-Coy) with bomb on April 13 at around 8:30 pm, another bomb attack was carried out on the ROP team of 40 AR at Lilong Heinou Makhong on April 14 at around 7:30 am.
Though the RPF makes it a point not to hurt any civilian in its attacks on the security forces, it is regretted over the injury caused to a Muslim boy in yesterday's attack; the RPF statement said, adding that the incident was indeed unfortunate.
