Urging the State Government to protect tribal students staying and studying in Imphal, the Tangkhul Katamnao Long Imphal has today drawn the attention of the Government over instances of atrocity and attack on tribal students in Imphal.
Speaking to media persons today at TKLI Office, Deulahlane, president of the Tangkhul students' union, Pamreiso Shimray said the residence of one SK Manitombi Devi at Soibam Leikai under Porompat PS, which housed many tribal students was attacked by some miscreants last night around 9 .
The miscreants continued pelting stones at the residence even though the students who were staying there identified themselves as students.
Doors and windows of the rooms were damaged besides causing damages to some properties of the students.
Strongly condemning the incident, the TKLI president demanded clarification from the concerned individuals whatever.
He also warned that the TKLI, in collaboration with other students' bodies like KSO would launch various forms of agitation unless the police arrested the miscreants within three days.
He further urged the Government to provide accommodation to the students who left their place due to last night incident.
