Lui-Ngai-Ni celebrated

Imphal, February 15 2015:
As celebrated every year, the traditional seed sowing festival of Naga tribes Lui-Ngai-Ni was celebrated at Tribal Research Institute, Chingmeirong here today.
Apart from top-ranking State officials and Naga people settled in and around Imphal, Naga people from different corners of the State participated in the festival.
Performance of traditional rites and rituals, ignition of sacred fire and offering of sacred wine to the Almighty were the main features of the celebration.
Traditional dance and music items were also part of the festival.
Cultural dances of Maring, Tangkhul and Zeliangrong tribes were presented at the festival while cultural troupes of Maram and Inpui tribes presented folk songs.
The organising committee said that they prayed for peace and harmony among different communities on the occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni.
ADC Senapati Chairman RS Henry, ADC Ukhrul Chairman John Raleng, ADC Chandel Chairman Humalianbau and Namdulong village chief Gaibichu were also present at the festival.
