After a fabulous month-long performance, Chingngaihlian bagged the Zomi Idol India during a glittering grand finale programme on Saturday night, reports our correspondent.
The 21-year-old BA second year student defeated Lawmnakim Hrangate (19), Tracy Ngaihching Gangte (20) for the winner's trophy, a scooty worth Rs 60,000, lifetime contract as an approved artiste on AIR, a contract to record her own album and above all, a chance to represent Indian Zomis during the Global Zomi Idol competition at Oklahoma, USA in July.
Runner's up Lawmnakim will also join her at the global event.
AIR is said to have extended the contracts to the other top two contestants as well.
Countries with more than ten thousand Zomi population will have two candidates for the global Zomi Idol event that promise over $ 8000 as a grand prize which is to be hosted by Zomi Music Uplift Society (ZOMUS) while countries with lesser population will have just one.
The grand finale performance that began around 3 pm concluded around 10 pm.
The organizer, Zogam Artiste Association (ZAA) assured to sponsor a video album each for all the top 10 contestants.
