Imphal, February 15 2015:
Expressing resentment over the State Government's failure to set up a magisterial inquiry on the alleged fake encounter carried out by the Assam Rifles which killed Khupneilal Neihsiel and Robert Hesei Kipgen at Kadangbang on January 28, JAC on Kadangbang killing is set to impose a 5 day economic blockade from February 18, said a statement issued by Lunmang, secretary and convenor, Thangminlen Haokip of the JAC.
The JAC along with other Kuki civil bodies had demanded a magisterial inquiry report within 15 days over the alleged Kadangband fake encounter in which a civilian driver, Khupneilal Neihsiel and the CAO of KNF Robert Hesei Kipgen were shot dead and 3 others critically injured.
However, the State Government has failed to establish the veracity of the fake encounter, alleged the JAC in the statement.
The statement further said that the JAC had earlier contemplated a State-wide general strike but considering the forthcoming HSLC and HSSLC examinations, the JAC had decided to resort to economic blockade.
"The JAC has resorted to this extreme method of protest with an aim to halt the repeated human rights violation by the Assam Rifles which have victimised everyone in the State.
We appeal to all the people to extend their support and further urged all the State and inter-State goods transporters to respect the blockade and abstain from any act of defiance that will worsen the prevailing tension," the JAC further said.
