TDWA appeals for elected representative

In the midst of COVID-19 pandemic, the resignation of former MLA of Tamenglong AC has left the district in dire need of a leader during this crucial time, stated a press release signed by the president of the Tamenglong District Welfare Association (TDWA), RK Ajin.
The Tamenglong district and its citizens are left leaderless, in a state of vacuum, with no one to voice the people's cry after the resignation of its former MLA.
The 53 ST Tamenglong Constituency of Manipur Legislative Assembly seat has been left vacant for far too long, it stated.
The hill areas is also in the crux of change which may bring about a political and geaographical change with the looming delimitation in the State, it added.
As one of the most backward district in the State, its people have no representative and is in grave need of an elected leader.
In the backdrop of daily increase in COVID patients and also the uncertainty about delimitation of the State, the TDWA has urged the State Government to speed up the process of electing representative and also requested the High Court of Manipur to speed up the trial process, to help lessen the pain and helplessness of the people.
TDWA further appealed the State Government to revoke the resignation of the former MLA or swiftly conduct by-election, for the welfare and benefit of the people.
