State records 252 fresh COVID cases, 227 have no travel history

The State's total COVID-19 positive cases rose by 252 during the last 24 hours and 227 of them have no significant history of travelling outside the State.
Meanwhile, the two deaths reported from Churachandpur on September 26 due to COVID-19 and published in The Sangai Express the next day have been finally added to the official data, putting the death toll at 71 .
The two deaths which were missing from the official figure all these days have been finally reflected in the COVID-19 daily bulletin released today by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
It was reported on September 26 that two women aged 68 and 46 died due to COVID-19.While one died at a COVID Care Centre opened at Lanva TD Block, Churachandpur district, another died at her home.
According to today's bulletin, 252 people including 24 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Maipakpi Hospital, Noney, Raj Medicity, Imphal East, Ukhrul, Tengnoupal, Advance Hospital, Tamenglong, Senapati, Kangpokpi, Jiribam, Churachandpur, Thoubal, Babina Diagnostics, Jivan Hospital and Christian Hospital.
The 228 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (52), Jiribam (2), Kakching (6), Thoubal (14), Chandel (5), Churachandpur (26), Imphal East (94), Bishnupur (1), Noney (14), Ukhrul (5), Tengnoupal (2), Tamenglong (3), Senapati (1) and Kangpokpi (3) .
Except for one, none of them has any significant history of travelling outside the State.
On the other hand, 89 people were discharged during the last 24 hours from RIMS (17), CCC UNACCO (24), CCC Kakching (14), RD Wing (7), CCC Lamding (1), CCC Kangpokpi (1), CCC Senapati (1), JNIMS (2), home isolation (1) and CAPF (21).The cumulative figure of COVID-19 positive cases has reached 11,649 (general population 9250, Central security personnel 2399).It is inclusive of 2497 active cases (general population 2166, Central security personnel 331) and 9081 discharged cases (general population 7016, Central security personnel 2065).The recovery rate as on Saturday is 77.95 per cent.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar today presided over a meeting of Commissioners and Secretaries this afternoon and discussed about making the masses more aware of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Of the 58 people who tested positive from Imphal West, 8 are from Kwakeithel Heinou Khongnembi and six from Keishamthong Hodam Leirak.
What is worrying is the mass detection of positive cases leikaiwise in Imphal East in the last few days, said a source from the Health Department.
According to a late evening report, another 47 people tested positive at JNIMS and eight at Thoubal.
