First ever mediation session disposes 6 cases

The Manipur State Legal Service Authority (MSLSA) today disposed off six cases, five motor-vehicle claim related and one matrimonial, in its first ever mediation session, an initiative of the authority to settle cases without taking much time and with less expenditure.
The mediation session was held in the court room of District and Session Judge, Manipur East at Cheirap Court Complex.
Ph Surendra, District and Session Judge and also member secretary of the MSLSA and Judge Y Kol of Family Court acted as mediators in mediating the five cases related with motor-vehicle claim pending with National Insurance Company.
In another mediation session with K Bipinchandra, District and Session Judge Manipur West, A Guneshwor presiding officer, Revenue Tribunal and Ch Brajachand, Civil Judge, Senior Division no.2, Manipur East disposed one our of three matrimonial cases reffered from Family Court.
Member secretary, Ph Surendra said that the mediation session was taken up as part of the six-day training on mediation technique conducted at State Academy of Training, Takyel held from February 11 to 20 last.
MSLSA targeted to dispose of 10 cases within 48 hour but only five cases able to dispose off.
A report of the session will be furnished to the Supreme Court, he added.
