Strike called off

All Manipur Minor Irrigation Department Employees' Association has decided to call off its cease work strike following an assurance from the Chief Minister to release their pending salary.
According to Association president S Sanjit employees of Minor Irrigation Department launched ceasework strike since September 2 to protest non release of nine months salary.
While Association members put on black badge till September 8 to denounce Government's indifferent attitude towards the employees sit in protest were staged at the office gate from September 9 till 13 followed by relay hunger strike from September 16 to 18, he said.
With the Minor Irrigation Department Chief Engineer M Shyambabu highlighting the employees' plight to the Chief Minister O ibobi Singh the latter assured to release four months salary along with the assurance that necessary process would be initiated to release the pending monthly entitlements, the president quoted the Chief Engineer as saying.
Declaring that the agitation has been called off with immediate effect consequent to the CM's assurance, Sanjit also appealed to authorities concerned for initiation of relevant process to release the pending salary at the earliest.
