A man was injured when two hand grenades hurled by some militants exploded near an oil pump at Ngangkhalawai.
Bishnupur district at about 1.30 pm today.
Notably, troops of 2nd J&K Light Infantry were on ROP duty in the area when the suspected militants who came in a van lobbed the hand grenades.
The two hand grenades landed 30 feet apart and exploded one after another in quick succession.
The injured victim has been identified as Yumnam Ranjan (40) s/o Gobardhan of Uripok Tourangbam Leikai.
He is a mechanic of mobile phone BTS tower.
He was grazed by shrapnel on the head.
He is said to be out of danger.
Ranjan was driving a Bolero jeep when the grenade exploded all of a sudden.
Ranjan was travelling with one of his friends to repair a BTS tower.
In connection with the grenade attack, a case has been registered at Moirang police station.
