Man asks 18-year-old boy for booze, then shoots him when ignored

Imphal, May 16 2021:
An 18-year-old boy sustained bullet injury when a man allegedly fired at him at Nongmaijing Ching, Imphal East today.
The incident happened near Mahadeva Temple under Lamlai Police Station at around 12.30 pm .
The 18-year-old has been identified as Samjetsabam Abungo, son of late Samu of Andro Loupaochum.
He suffered bullet injury on his right thigh.
He has been rushed to Advanced Specialty Hospital and Research Institute for medical treatment.
10 boys including Abungo were at Nonmaijing Ching searching and gathering vegetables when the incident happened.
Some persons, who were already there near the Mahadeva Temple, first asked them where they were from.
When the boys replied they were from Andro, the strangers then asked them if they had alcohol with them.
When they replied they didn't have any, the strangers began to verbally abuse them.
The boys then left the place to avoid the strangers.
The group of strangers then followed the boys in a Maruti Gypsy and a Hyundai Creta car.
One of the strangers then fired at Abungo injuring him in his thigh.
Lamlai Police Station has registered a case and search is on to nab the persons involved.
