Imphal, September 15 2013:
The Government of India had dispatched a missive to the Government of Myanmar to amicably settle the border dispute between the neighbouring countries.
This was disclosed by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam while talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of visiting the injured victims of the last Friday night's Khoyathong bomb attack at Shija Hospital and Research Institute at Langol today afternoon.
Gaikhangam, who returned to Imphal after meeting the Central leaders along with Chief Minister O Ibobi on the border issue at New Delhi yesterday, said, "We are now waiting the response from the Government of Myanmar" .

On their Delhi meeting, Gaikhangam informed that it was convened by the Union Home Secretary to discuss the issues over border dispute with Myanmar as well as the census re-verification exercise in three sub-divisions of Senapati district.
He observed that the border issue is a serious issue.
Even if it is under the purview of the Centre, the Government of Manipur would never keep quiet over it.
The claims being made by some people and political parties that land of Manipur has gone to Myanmar on account of the border fencing may or may not be true, he added.
On the Senapati district census controversy, the Deputy Chief Minister observed that it is a long term task and a serious matter.
"We hope that the officials working on it will bring solution soon," he added.
On the Friday blast incident in which nine labourers were killed, Gaikhangam, who also holds the home portfolio, said the purpose of such dastardly act is not known.
"Even lions hunt its prey only when it is hungry which indicates that the animal act with a purpose but the killing of nine labourers is purposeless," he said, while clarifying that there is no question of NIA taking up the investigation and as of now, it is the State Police which is taking care of the matter.
After visiting the injured victims at the hospital, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who was accompanied by DGP MK Das, went straight to Chingmeirong where he gave assurance for providing full security to the over 800 construction workers engaged in connection with construction of the New Secretariat building complex as part of the larger Capitol Project.
Later, he also inspected the site where the bomb blast took place.
