CADA conducts discussion programme

Continuing its fight against drugs and substance abuse, Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) in association with Athokpam Meira Paibi Apunba Lup, All Athokpam Clubs & Organization, All Manipur Women's Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj) conducted a discussion programme at District Library cum Youth Centre Hall, Thoubal Athokpam Awang Leikai, Thoubal, today.
The programme was graced by Thoubal SP, Dr S Ibomcha as chief guest; Nupi Samaj president, Thokchom (o) Ramani as functional president and CADA president, Hijam Priyokumar; retd Deputy Inspector of Education Department Mayengbam Modhuchandra; social worker, Yumnam Nipamacha and Women's Development Association secretary, Athokpam Lashmi as guests of honour, said a statement of CADA.
It also said that MC Reeta, president Leimakol and Geetchandra Mangang, secretary-general CADA were the resource persons of the event.
At the event, Dr S Ibomcha said that most drugs addicts began abusing drugs, including alcohol due to peer pressure or family environment.
Saying that drug abuse is a serious issue that affects all sections of the society, especially children and women, the SP assured that police will support all initiatives taken up by meira paibis, CSOs and CADA to tackle drug menace.
On the other hand, Ima Ramani said that unchecked selling and abusing/consuming of drugs and alcohol can be controlled if the law enforcing agency and Government are sincere in their effort to curb drug menace in the State.
Asserting that such problem which is hindering the development of the State has to solved from an individual level, she also appealed all parents/guardian to stop using drugs, alcohol, tobacco to build a healthy Manipur.
