Nambol Bora Festival begins

A 7 day Bora Festival-2020 organised by Kanglei Eco-Tourism Development Association (KENDRA) Nambol began today at Nambol Higher Secondary School playground (Khoriphaba Playground) Nambol.
Altogether 40 stalls selling different bora varieties are opened in the festival The inaugural ceremony was graced by Forest & Environment Minister Th Shyamkumar, Nambol AC MLA N Loken; Oinam AC MLA, who is also a Manipur Pollution Control Board Chairman, L Radhakishore; Konthoujam Kendragi MLA, who is also Manipur Tourism Corporation Ltd Chairman, Dr S Ranjan; environmentalist & advisor KETDA, Dr Kh Shamungou, Designated Food Safety Officer, Y Satyajit; District Malaria Officer, Dr Th Nabakishore and Visishta Acharya Awardee Ng Naba as the presidium members.
Speaking at the event, Th Shyamkumar said that Nambol bora (fritter) is famous for its unique taste all over the State.
Saying that the initiative of KENDRA to promote indigenous food deserves praise, the Minister also appealed to continue planting tree saplings for a greener Manipur.
Bishnupur District is suitable for developing into a tourism region, he said and prayed for the Nambol Bora Festival to improve the socio-economic condition of the area.
Meanwhile, L Loken stressed the need to renovate Nambol Keithel.
