Governor Dr Najma Heptulla has greeted the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Mera Chaoren Houba.
The Governor in her message said, people should contribute their best to ensure peaceful co-existence and make efforts to keep the body, mind and soul clean besides cleansing the surroundings, she said.
"We should remember and follow his (Mahatma Gandhi's) message of non-violence, love, peace and universal brotherhood on the occasion.
Only then, the observance of the Day will be meaningful", Dr Najma Heptulla said.
The Governor said the festival of Mera Chaoren Houba in Manipur has withstood the test of time and in recent years has become a rallying point for the State's unity and integrity.
She urged all the people to join the celebration in its true spirit, upholding the tradition of peaceful co-existence while wishing that the festival usher in the bond of unity, integrity and understanding among all communities for peace and prosperity to prevail in the State.
