Ukhrul, August 07, 2012:
In continuing with its demand to initiate action against SSA fund embezzlement, Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) and Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL) have questioned the concerned higher authorities as to why no action has been taken till date and threaten to boycott the upcoming Independence Day celebration in Ukhrul.
In a press statement issued jointly by TKS and TMNL, the bodies asserted that befitting action should be initiated against the SSA Ukhrul DPM, Rinshang Shaiza, for his role in fraudulently swindling the public money and demanded for immediate transfer of incumbent Deputy Commissioner R.Sudhan for his failure to take action against the corrupt official.
The two Tangkhul bodies set August 9 as the deadline and said that failure of taking fitting action would result in further agitation including boycott of Independence Day celebration in Ukhrul district.
Meanwhile, according to a reliable source, the memo which was submitted to the Education Minister in connection with the alleged SSA scam has been forwarded to the Chief Minister office on Monday.
In another statement, two Tangkhul bodies have clarified that they have not placed any directive to stop issuing certificates from Ukhrul Sub-Divisional Office.
The statement has come after the public were told by the concerned office that the certificates could be obtained from TKS office.
It clarified that the Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner has been apprised over exorbitant amount charged from the students while obtaining certificates.
In this wake, the DC clarified that the certificate should be issued at free of cost to the students.
On the contrary, the concerned office has stopped issuing certificates to the student and public.
"To make the matter worse even after this assurance (from DC), the concerned offices issuing the certificates have now totally stopped issuing any certificates by a mere excuse that the Lambusare not attending the office," it stated.
Non-issuing of certificates till date has created a lot of hardships especially to the student community, who are studying or seeking admissions and jobs outside the state, the joint statement said, adding.
"with deep regret (we) would like to urge the public community to judge and understand as to who is responsible for jeopardizing the future of the students".
