CCpur, September 30 2019:
The Joint Committee on Anti-Drugs Churachandpur (JCADC) has reportedly warned Inter-State and Inter District Travel Agencies against transporting of illicit drugs and advised them to take necessary precaution to fulfil the same.
The committee have met representatives from CCpur-Moreh Ecco Van Association, Churachandpur Imphal Taxi Owners (CITO's) and InterState transport agencies including Northeastern Transport (NET), Royal Rajdhani and Network Travels at Kuki Inpi Churachandpur (KIC) to communicate the conditions.
The transport agencies who have agreed to join hands in curbing illegal drugs trafficking to and from Churachandpur are also required to submit detail information about their vehicles and drivers, said a statement issued by the committee.
It further added that travel agencies/associations must not create, install or modify a separate/concealed compartment within the body of the vehicle to facilitate illegal drugs transportation.
The Committee therefore maintained that if any vehicle fails to fulfill their conditions and is found indulging in illegal drugs trafficking, the responsible person will be dealt accordingly to the existing law of the land.
The Joint Committee on AntiDrugs too would take actions as per its regulation and that may even lead to cancellation of their road permit, it added.
