CCpur, September 30 2019:
A brief standoff ensued early today in front of the Paite Tribe Council office located at Hiangtam CCpur as two opposing sections of the community leaders seek to take control of the building.
The turmoil began on Saturday after a group of discontent members within the executive and the CWC alleged that the no confidence motion they sought against the three incumbent leaders have been ignored consistently following which a motion was moved through the vice-president to oust the CWC Chairman, President and Secretary during a meeting at PTC office.
Soon after, they declared the appointment of a new Chairman, President and Secretary at the same venue, but that was countered later in the evening by the three people who are said to be ousted from their post.
Today, as both the sides sought to take control of the PTC GHQ office, a brief scuffle ensued early in the day.
Soon the local police rushed to the spot to take the situation under control.
Later in the day, the Deputy Commissioner Pawan Yadav imposed restrictions under 144 CrPC prohibiting assembly of 5 or more people and carrying of sticks, sword and others which may cause harm within 500 meter radius of the PTC office effective of 8 am today and will continue until further orders.
Incidentally, at least three of the people involved in the power struggle are Church elders.
