Imphal, September 30 2009:
MLA of Tamei A/C Awangbou Newmai has asserted that newly floated Peoples Vigilance Forum, Tamei Kendra is not acceptable as it is not only anti-development but has also been formed under political institution.
Talking to mediapersons, Awangbou pointed out that the Forum has been floated by former MLA Z Mangaibou and some Congress workers without consulting the public of Tamei.
So the charges on the developmental front of Tamei sub-division are baseless, the MLA said, while questioning why the Forum has not investigated into the swindling of the fund allocated for material components under NREGS from 2004 to 2006 in Tamei.
Awangbou further charged the Forum of being one-sided in connection with the investigation over the misuse of fund related to plantation of Orange and passion fruits and construction of road under PMGSY from Khongshang to Barak bridge.
Terming the charges of distributing only 10 percent of the drought relief fund and pocketing the rest by the sitting MLA as baseless, Awangbou also questioned the why the Forum has not covered works like construction of 28 community halls in Tousem sub-division, six bridges including suspension bridge, three Agri roads and two toilets at a total estimation cost of more than Rs 4 crores under BRGF from the purview of its inspection.
Village leaders who were also present at the occasion categorically stated that formation of the Forum by people with political leaning is not acceptable.
