Imphal, September 30 2009:
The Kuki national Army (KNA), Tactical HQs has lodged a strong complaint to the Commandant, 31 Assam Rifles with regard to AR troops raiding the residence of its OC SS Maj DJ Haokip and decamping away with assorted arms and ammunition.
In a statement issued to the press today, the KNA missive by DJ Haokip recounted that at about 12.30 pm yesterday four AR personnel clad in combat uniform jumped out from the Maruti Gypsy and barged into his house, took hostage his wife namely Mrs Titing and official armourer wife Mr Lulun.
While enlisting 20 assorted arms of the KNA including 14 AK series and four M-16 rifles as weapons which the raiding party took away from the residence, the outfit's OC continued that on being informed about the raid while he was at a meeting place at Moreh Ward 1, an official team of KNA enquired the matter at the Bn HQs of 31 AR where they were told personnel of the said AR unit were not involved in the particular raid or seizure of arms.
The KNA representation further confided to the 31 AR CO regarding information that troops of Imphal-based 28 AR led by an officer namely Major Ravichander along with 20 soldiers were involved in the incident.
Conveying that Moreh being a known locality of KNO and the AR troops not allowing movement of KNA cadres with weapons, the said arms and ammunition were stored at his residence serving as the central store, the KNA OC expressed strong resentment of the AR troops' conduct against a SOO group.
Stating that it projects very poorly AR troops as well as the State Government with whom the SOO agreement was signed, he also pointed out that the raid and consequent seizing of weapons is a clear violation of ceasefire ground rules against a SOO signatory.
