MLA from the Tamei Assembly Constituency, Awanbou Newmai today said that the charges leveled by the People's Vigilance Forum, Tamei about wrong utilization of developmental funds were baseless ones.
Speaking to media persons at his official quarter at Lamphel, MLA Wangbou Newmai said to set up a body like People's Vigilance Committee to look into the working of developmental works is good but it is not good to work for taking political advantage.
The committee was formed for taking political advantage.
Most of the members of the committee were active workers of a political party.
It was not formed in the interest of the people, he alleged.
Reiterating that the news report published in today's newspaper with regard to misappropriation of funds mean for developmental works and improper works are all baseless.
The market shed at Tamei sub-divisional headquarters was started construction with Rs 13 lakh from his local area development fund.
Quality is being maintained and rooms for further expansion also providing.
The works have been retarded due to the rainy season.
He is trying to sanction more funds for further expansion and completion of the same.
No question of diverted NREGS fund in the construction of guest house at Tamei arose.
There was instant of donating wages of NREGS job card holders for the construction of the house.
No fund from SPA availed.
The guest house is constructed with the funds from BRGF, Awangbou clarified.
On the charge of wrong use of the relief fund for combating food scarcity, the MLA said, the fund was not sanctioned through the local MLA.
It was provided through SFP.
He further said that during his tenure as MLA of Tamei, with the funding from the BRGF, 28 community halls had been constructed across Tamei.
Three agricultural road and two toilet complex had also been constructed.
At this juncture, the People's Vigilance Committee trying to mislead and give hindrance to developmental works is unfortunate thing.
He also alleged that during the tenure of Z Mangaibou as MLA of the Tamei Assembly constituency (from 2003 to 2006), only 10 percent of the total funds released from the BRGF utilized.
