Imphal, September 30 2009:
The AMSU, MSF and KSA have alleged Police officers, Congress and CPI MLAS, and ministers of hatching a 'hidden plot' to contain the present agitations like the Government of India had summoned Maharaja Budhichandra to make him signed the merger agreement at Shillong.
Pointing out the 'hidden plot,' a statement issued by the three students' bodies - which spearheaded the class boycott agitation - disclosed that a meeting convened by the State Education (S) Director M Harekrishna on September 28 at the Banquet Hall of 1st MR had tried to forcibly make the gatherings adopt a resolution against the present class boycott agitation.
The students' bodies stated that the meeting circular mentioned that the government will be represented by Education Minister, Education (S) Commissioner, and Director of Education (S).
The circular was issued to All Manipur Government Higher Secondary Lecturers' Welfare Association, some higher secondary principals in Imphal East, West and Greater Imphal area, All Manipur Government Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association, and some senior citizens.
Though the meeting notification did not mention about the presence of the DGP, he shared the dais at the meeting and tried to convince the delegates adopt a resolution.
But the teachers and senior citizens present at the meeting cautiously avoided taking any decision, the statement revealed.
The statement also conveyed that the teachers present at the meeting were not pleased at the remarks of the DGP.
Stating that the present agitation of the people has caused a jolt in the government, the AMSU, MSF and KSA statement has observed that the agitation has given ground for the ouster of the CM from his post.
It pointed out that the alleged effort of the CM in trying to secure the DGP by concealing the Central's order for the replacement of the DGP by lobbying the Prime Minister and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is going to prove futile.
The statement contended that there has been intimation from the Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram to State Congress leaders to oust Ibobi from his post.
However, Ibobi has allegedly rubbed the palms of leaders to secure his post.
The students' bodies also asserted that the cabinet of the government should first decide for banning of India Reserve Battalion (IRB) - which is known for its involvement in various criminal cases, before taking a decision to ban the three students' body.
Reacting to the statement of the PRO of IGAR (S) which appeared in some newspapers, the students' bodies stated that the statement was like an athlete running out of the track.
It stated that the AR was trying to show solidarity to their partner-commandos in several crimes including eliminating innocents.
The students' bodies posited that the AR is earning name in killing innocents and 'raping' women and children.
The AR's PRO statement was the proof of their lack of knowledge in social issues.
It is also pertinent to ask whether the AR has been turned into the Manipur Government's advocate.
The declining of the once good moral of the AR - which has even earned the labels 'Sentinel of the North East' and 'Friends of the Hill People' - has prompted the NE people to abhor them, the students' bodies asserted.
Further, stating that the efforts of O Ibobi in prostrating before Rahul Gandhi in order to secure his seat seems to be futile, the statement urged him to resign on moral ground.
