Khongjom Day commemorated

Various political parties of the State commemorated 130th Khongjom Day at its respective offices adhering to Covid SOPs.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) organised a Khongjom Day observance at Congress Bhavan today.
President of MPCC Govindas Konthoujam, leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) O Ibobi, member of Congress Working Committee (CWC) Gaikhangam, Congress MLAs, office bearers of MPCC and chiefs of Frontal Cell paid floral tributes to the photo of Paona Brajabasi and other valiant warriors of Anglo Manipuri War 1891 .
Addressing the gathering, Govindas Konthoujam said the present generation should uphold the courage of the valiant warriors who laid down their lives to protect the integrity and sovereignty of Manipur.
And one should strive selflessly for the wellbeing of the society, he added.
Meanwhile, Manipur People's Party (MPP) also observed Khongjom Day at the conference hall of the party.
President of MPP L Krishnadas, working president Mayengbam Amutombi, party leader Mohammad Abdul Matlif led in paying homage to the warriors.
Shiv Sena, State Unit also organised a Khongjom Day observance at Shiv Sena Bhavan today.
State unit president of Shiv Sena, M Tombi recalled the spirit of the heroic Manipuri warriors who fought fearlessly for the motherland.
Iramdam Meeyamgi Apunba Khorjel Lup (IMAKHOL), Awang Potshangbam observed Khongjom Day and organised an event 'Khongjom Lan Seitha Seireng Khonjel' at Khamran Mayai Leikai today.
Renowned playwright Ngairangbam Ibohal Singh, president of IMAKHOL Dr Rajkumar Gunachandra Singh and Laishram ongbi Kh Sobita Devi, retired pharmacist of PHC Sekmai graced the event as the presidium members.
Paying homage and floral tributes to the photos of warriors of Khongjom War was the main highlight of the event.
Later a poetry reading session was held wherein representatives of various literary groups, renowned writers and members of IMAKHOL read out poems dedicated to the brave warriors and forefathers.
