Top security officers appear before HC

Imphal, January 23 2017:
As directed earlier, top officers of the State police, army and Central paramilitary forces appeared before a full bench of the High Court of Manipur today in connection with a PIL filed at the Court against imposition of economic blockades on National Highways.
The full bench comprised of Chief Justice Rakesh Ranjan, Justice N Kotiswar and Justice Kh Nobin.
Manipur Police DGP, CRPF DIG, IG AR (South), GOC 57 Mountain Division and BSF DIG (Counter Insurgency Operation) appeared before the bench along with the Advocate General, Government of India and Assistant Solicitor General, Government of India.
After hearing submissions made by the top security officers regarding different measures taken up by them to ensure smooth transportation of goods along National Highways in the midst of the UNC's indefinite economic blockade, the Court fixed January 25 for the next round of hearing.
Notably, the PIL was filed by one RK Joysana against the Union of India and nine others.
