Strike against wanton killings 24 hrs gen strike in force at Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi, January 23 2017:
Amidst strong projection of Kangpokpi district as 'Bandh Free/Model District' of the State ever since it attained district status on December 8 midnight, the first ever bandh in the form of a 24 hr general strike will hit the district from this midnight.
The joint civil society organizations of Kangpokpi district including Kuki Inpi, KSO and KWU yesterday served an ultimatum to the State Government to book the culprits involving in the killing of a pillion rider on January 21 evening along National Highway 2 near N Songlung village under Gamnom Sapormeina PS.
The decision to go ahead with the proposed 24 hrs general strike in Kangpokpi district was taken this afternoon in a joint meeting of the CSOs after the State Government failed to nab the culprits within the stipulated time this evening.
In a joint statement the CSOs said that they have already served an ultimatum to the Government to arrest the killers of Kamjang Haokip within 24 hrs and as the Hovernment has failed to nab the killers within the stipulated time "we are compelled to resort to this extreme measure" .
It also said that the 24 hrs general strike will be effective from midnight in the entire district of Kangpokpi where all business establishments, Government offices and even educational institutions will be shutdown during the strike apart from complete ban on movement of State and inter-State passenger services including buses, wingers and other vehicles.
