HPF-M plans political awareness at Rengkai

The Hill Peoples' Forum-Manipur (HPF-M), a pressure group formed collectively with the SoO signatory-UPF, has planned its first and crucial political awareness programme at Rengkai community hall in Churachandpur with the professed intention of creating awareness on the later's declared demand of Autonomous Hill State under Article 244A of the Indian constitution.
"Our objective is to create political awareness at the grass-root level on the rights of the indigenous people and the need to protect their land through Article 244A of the Indian constitution," the group's Chairman R Sanga told The Sangai Express today.
The event will also be projected as an occasion to constitute a district working committee for Churachandpur, he said adding intellectuals, tribe leaders and other stake holders are requested to attend the programme.
Former president of ATSUM John Pulamte, and ZRO's advisor K Guite were set to address the event in their capacity as resource persons.
