Dimapur, August 14 2014 :
NSCN-IM chairman Isak Chisi Swu has sounded alertness and urged the Nagas to prepare for any eventuality or even get ready to face the worst indicating that the prevailing situation is sensitive.
Addressing a mammoth crowd at Camp Hebron, off Dimapur this morning during the 68th Nagas Independence Day celebration, the NSCN-IM chairman stated that the Indo-Naga peace process has completed 17 years and both the parties (Delhi and NSCN-IM) are for an all out honourable solution.
"There are difficulties for both, but we have to arrive at some meeting point in order to realise a permanent political solution.
The NSCN has come as close as possible but they cannot go beyond the limit that amounts to selling off the historical rights of their people.
If realistic steps are not taken anything can happen at any time," Isak Chisi Swu stated.
Earlier in his speech, Isak Swu said all peoples have their own history.
Nagas too have their own history which is now officially recognised by the Government of India.
"Our history speaks about our identity, land, culture, religion and politcs.
And that it cannot be twisted by any force or power however great it may be.
The Meiteis and others too have their own histories, which we respect.
We are for peaceful co-existence with our neighbours based on the principle of mutual recognition of right and respect that sustain a harmonious interdependent relationship," the NSCN-IM chairman stated.
Swu then said that the foundation of the Naga nation is laid on the solid ground of trust in God and in the universal principle of right to self determination.
Also addressing the event, NSCN-IM general secretary Th Muivah asserted that the Nagas will not allow others to decide the future of the Nagas.
He then chronicled how the peace talks have been going on and to the point when the Government of India accepted the 'unique history' of the Nagas.
Th Muivah then asked the NSCN-IM workers to fear God.
Muivah stated that God has never failed the Nagas till date.
"The Nagas ought to fear God and without God's help we can do nothing," Th Muivah stated, adding, "God is always with us and never doubt that" .
Meanwhile, cultural dances, presentations of songs from groups and talent shows marked the occasion followed by a grand feast.
