Moreh bridges reduced to risky zones

The wooden bridge connecting Moreh Ward No 6 and Ward 7 as well as the Lokchao bridge have worn out to such an extent that commuters are facing grave risks while crossing them.
The Lokchao bridge is located 89 Kms from Imphal and 21 kms from Moreh on the route.
Both medium and heavy vehicles plying along the route are exposed to grave risk while crossing the Lokchao bridge.
One truck driver said that they fear for their safety while crossing the bridge as it has worned out considerably.
He said that the Government need to pay urgent attention to Imphal-Moreh road by taking into account the importance of the highway to the economy and trade and commerce of the State.
Even though the Pallel-Saivom section of the highway has improved considerably, the conditions of the Saivom-Tengnoupal and Tengnoupal-Moreh sections remain in pathetic conditions.

Around 200/300 vehicles are plying along Imphal-Moreh road everyday despite the deplorable condition of the highway.
The wooden bridge built over Khujairok river connecting Moreh Ward No 7 Tamil Leikai and Ward No 6 Nepali Leikai has also deteriorated considerably posing risk to all.
Notably, the wooden bridge is indispensable for thousands of students who have to cross it under any circumstances while going to and from their schools.
