AR holds awareness drives

3 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) organised an employment awareness drive at Tuitong village in Chandel district on October 5 .
The drive included lectures on the impact of unemployment, various employment avenues and self-help methods, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .
The villagers were also briefed to motivate the underground cadres to surrender and join the mainstream and take the opportunity provided by the Government to join the Auxiliary Battalion, which is being raised by BSF and SSB mainly for the surrendered militants.
Leaflets highlighting the special scheme and rehabilitation, provided for surrendered militants, were also distributed during the event.
In another endeavour, an AIDS awareness campaign was jointly organised by Manipur AIDS Control Society (MACS) and 3 Assam Rifles at Sehlon village in Chandel district yesterday.
A large number of villagers from nearby villages participated in this campaign.
During the programme, which was an initiative taken up under National AIDS Control Organisation, villagers were briefed on HIV/AIDS and measures to check its spread by the experts from MACS and Assam Rifles, said a press release issued by the PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .
