Kangpokpi, June 03 2014:
Analyzing prevailing situation regarding disable people's organizations in Senapati district today at a joint meeting convened at SDSA office, Senapati, Senapati District Student's Association (SDSA) and Kuki Students' Organization Sadar Hills (KSO-SH) declared Association of Persons with Disability Senapati (APDS) as baseless and invalid.
A joint declaration signed by KSO-SH president Thangminlen Kipgen SDSA president Dominic Th Azuna said taking into account allegation and counter-allegation amongst disable people's organizations in the district the two student bodies convened a meeting today and decided to adopt a joint resolution for invalidating APDS.
Stating that analyzing the situation of the disable people organization in the district it came to light that APDS emerged up only after the existence of All Disable Union Sadar Hills (ADUSH) and Senapati Disable People Association Manipur (SDPAM), the declaration proclaimed that the latter two are the only recognized disabled bodies in Senapati.
It further said that after failing to witness any activities or programmes undertaken by APDS for the welfare of disabled persons within Senapati district, the student bodies decided to declare APDS as baseless and invalid.
In the meantime, the two student bodies appealed to ARCS Kangpokpi to annul registration of APDS immediately as it fails to reflect any testimonials of it being a genuine body and noted that with no knowledge of its existence in the district till recently it sprang up out of nowhere in local papers.
The student bodies, in their joint declaration, also urged all Government establishments, administrations, NGOs, civil organizations and the general public not to entertain or recognize APDS for any purpose at any point.
