Andro gears up for World Tourism Day

To give a unique taste of indigeneity, colourful cultural dance and music programmes and a variety of indigenous cuisines would be performed and sold at this year's World Tourism Day to be hosted at Andro Santhei Park.
This year's theme for World Tourism Day is 'one billion tourists, one billion opportunities' .
Due preparations have been already initiated for celebrating the World Tourism Day at Santhei Park on September 27 under the aegis of the State Tourism Department.
The event will be kick-started one day earlier from September 26 .

Santhei Natural Park Development Committee secretary S Gokulchandra said that all the indigenous cuisines of Andro would be put on display at the World Tourism Day where colourful and vibrant dance and music programmes closely related with the rich cultural heritage of Manipur would enthral the crowd.
He also invited one and all to the grand event.
He conveyed gratitude to the State Government for giving Andro the privilege to host the World Tourism Day.
Folk music genres like Leishem Jagoi, Louring Eshei, Phoushu Eshei, Nongmaiching Sheitha Eshei would be performed on the opening day.
There will be many food stalls where visitors can enjoy indigenous beverages like Waiyu, Atingba, Kalei etc in addition to a different varieties of indigenous cuisines.
Kalei is in hot demand outside the State.
As such, people of Andro have been working to start exporting this variety of beverage, another villager said.
Whereas cultural programmes would be performed in the morning, different musical bands like Penta Fusion, Pebet, Fringes, Pulse Pandit, Thei Thei, Maniac, Eros, Rhythms of Manipur and Tetseo Sisters would perform in the afternoon.
There would be no entry fee for attending the World Tourism Day, he added.
