Imphal, September 25 2016:
Congress MLA N Loken has stated that BJP would not be able to secure more than six seats in the forthcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
He was speaking at a political conference held at Awang Maibam Leikai community hall under the aegis of Langthabal Block Congress Committee.
Among others, the political conference was attended by MPCC president TN Haokip, MLA P Brojen and All India Mahila Congress Committee president Sobha Oza.
N Loken said that election of Congress candidates is essential for development of the State.
Stating that many political parties which were once active in the State are almost dead now, Loken predicted a straight fight between Congress and BJP in the forthcoming election.
BJP has been claiming that they would score a huge victory in the hope that some Congress ML As would join them.
However, there is no Congress MLA who wishes to join BJP.
Rather than joining hands with BJP, four Trinamool Congress MLAs came within the fold of Congress party.
If they are taken into account, Congress has now 51 MLAs.
As for those people who joined BJP anew, they have all been tested in their respective Assembly segments.
There are 4/5 aspiring BJP candidates in each Assembly segment.
It would only spark dissension and violence at the time of giving party tickets, Loken predicted.
The chairman of the recruitment board constituted for recruitment of Police Constables in 2013 is the man who is preparing to contest the Assembly election in Heirok AC on a BJP ticket.
It would be more appreciable if BJP was holding dhamas against rejection of ILPS related Bills by the Government of India rather than on the issue of police recruitment, Loken said.
Sobha Oza said that the NDA Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been working hard to set up BJP Governments in all States ruled by Congress after suppressing the existing Congress Governments.
MGNREGS which was launched during the UPA Government used to provide jobs for 100 days in a year to the poor but the scheme has been rendered ineffective by the NDA Government thereby robbing job opportunities from millions of poor people.
It only testifies that Modi Government is anti-poor, added Oza.
