Imphal, June 20 2012:
Alleging that Muslim Girls Hostel is being run at the behest of some vested interest individuals, Pangal (Manipur Muslim) Political Forum, in this regard, has drawn attention of Chief Minister O Ibobi, who also holds MOBC portfolio.
Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club today, Forum general secretary MA Jabar Shah said, Public Works Department is yet to hand over the hostel to MOBC.
After the hand over, he added, the hostel is to be run by Wakf Board Manipur.
Saying that the hostel was inaugurated by the then MOBC Minister Md Allaudin Khan, the general secretary alleged that the Minister had appointed his relatives as the staff of the hostel.
According to rules and regulations, the general secretary added, the hostel must be run by a committee headed by an MLA.
However, Md Allaudin Khan is still occupying the said post, he said.
Although the hostel is still not equipped with the necessary infrastructure, hostel rooms have already been allotted to four-five girls.
Hostel staff, who are said to be the staff of Wakf Board, were also appointed in violation of Rules and Regulations of the Board.
According to the Manipur Wakf Rules 2007, no staff can be appointed without prior approval from the State Government, he added.
Drawing attention of Chief Minister O Ibobi, MA Jabar Shah urged him to look into these irregularities.
