Foreign substance found in syrup

Imphal, June 20 2012:
A nutritional supplementary syrup meant for infants has been found to be adulterated.
On prescription, a person identified as Khomdram Santosh (36) of Singjamei Thingom Leikai had bought a nutritional supplement syrup, AZns from Kumar Pharmacy located at Singjamei on June 18 last.
He bought the supplement along with Liv-52 for his infant son according to the prescription of a medical practitioner.
He however, did not administer the syrup to the infant until this morning, Santosh told reporters today.
When he opened the cap this morning, he came to discover the presence of foreign substances in the bottle.

The syrup is manufactured by Himachal Pradesh based Indchemic Health Specialities Pvt Ltd and marketted by Mumbai based Alkem Laboratories Ltd.
Kh Santosh has drawn the attention of the Government authorities to check the marketting of such adulterated drugs in the State.
