Covid rages unabated in state; 8 die, 643 infected

Imphal, July 04 2021:
Even though the country is witnessing a significant reduction from the impact of the second wave of Covid-19, the state is seeing no relief as the positivity rate remains high with an average of around 14 per cent.
Sunday reported eight deaths and 643 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 4320 samples tested in the last 24 hours, which presented a positivity rate of 14.88 per cent.
Government bulletins also reported 602 recoveries in the last 24 hours, following which the active caseload now stands at 6159 with 2366 in home isolation and 2023 in CHICs.
As of Saturday night, 803 patients were admitted to different hospitals with 286 on oxygen support and 52 on ventilator support (including 8 on NIVs) .
The CCCs have 967 as of Saturday night and 91 of them are on oxygen support.
According to official reports, the 643 new cases included 637 people (320 males & 317 females) from among the general population and 6 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .

Their samples were tested at RIMS (12), JNIMS (73), District Hospitals (362) and other testing centres (196) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (145), Imphal West (242), Thoubal (76), Bishnupur (58), Kakching (10), Ukhrul (5), Churachandpur (65), Chandel (15), Senapati (2), Tamenglong (2), Tengnoupal (2), Jiribam (2), and Kangpokpi (13).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 8 Covid-19 deaths (7 male & 1 female) in the last 24 hours.
The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (2), Imphal East (2), Bishnupur (1), Tengnoupal (1) and Churachandpur (2) .
Two patients each died at JNIMS & DH Churachandpur, and one each at RIMS, Raj Medicity, Shija Hospitals & MSF Little Flower Hospital.
The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1196.The 602 patients discharged in the last 24 hours were from home isolation (226), RIMS (23), JNIMS (3), CCCs (116) and CHICs (234).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 72,286 (general population - 68,426 and CAPF personnel - 3,860).Number of recovered cases is 64,931 (general population - 61,145 and CAPF personnel - 3,786) and number of active cases is 6,159 (general population - 6,090 and CAPF personnel - 69).The recovery rate is 89.83 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 2194 D-type and 361 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
District hospitals and government institutions have 441D and 96B filled cylinders and stock distributions made in the last 24 hours were Bishnupur (105D,6B), Chandel (33D,7B), Churachandpur (59D0B), Senapati (46D,0B), Thoubal (52D,27B), Ukhrul (35D,18B), Tamenglong (20D,0B), Jiribam (48D,13B), Moreh (12D,6B), Kamjong (3D,2B), Kangpokpi (3D,0B), Kakching (17D, 15B), Pherzawl (6D,2B), Noney (2D,0B) and CCCs (344D,123B) .
A total of 23,368 individuals were administered Covid vaccines on Saturday and the cumulative number of vaccinated people has reached 6,43,311 out of which 85,750 have completed their full doses.
Meanwhile, 35 new positive cases were detected out of 259 samples tested in Kakching district on Sunday.
One case was detected at Ema Hospital, one at Sun Hospital Wabagai Lamkhai, seven at Jivan Hospital and 26 at government RAT Centre.
One is a resident of Thoubal district and the remaining from Kakching district.
According to DSO Kakching, the district has so far recorded 3708 cases of Covid-19 out of which 3229 have been discharged and 76 have died.
As of Sunday, the active caseload of the district is 403, the DSO said.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (25,301), Imphal East (16,007), Thoubal (6089), Churachandpur (5861), Kangpokpi (1805), Tamenglong (2150), Bishnupur (4644), Senapati (1407), Ukhrul (1492), Kakching (3622), Chandel (1202), Noney (577), Tengnoupal (788), Jiribam (755), Kamjong (452), and Pherzawl (134) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (423), Imphal East (310), Thoubal (113), Churachandpur (99), Kangpokpi (30), Tamenglong (11), Bishnupur (88), Senapati (5), Ukhrul (15), Kakching (68), Chandel (18), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (6), Jiribam (4), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 23,296 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 21,937 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,96,500 tests per million population against the national average of 3,00,124 TPM.
Case fatality rate dipped to 1.66 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 4320 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 14.88 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 7.86 per cent.
