Senapati, March 04 2015:
Kuki Students' Organization (KSO), Sadar Hills today conveyed its deep concern and displeasure over the alleged attack on the people of Laloiphai village by Moidangpok villagers led by its pradhan, our correspondent reports.
The president of the student body Thangminlen Kipgen alleged that Laloiphai village, under Saitu-Gamphazol block, Sadar hills has been frequently attacked by Moidangpok villagers led by its pradhan.
Such incidents, Kipgen added, can ignite tension between communities.
Elucidating the incident the student body leader alleged that the pradhan along with a large number of his villagers attacked Laloiphai village on February 12 and unlawfully took away the village signboard.
On February 24 chief of Laloiphai village Holkhopao Haokip sent a communique to the circle MLA Ngamthang Haokip, IFCD Minister, detailing the incident.
It also requested the same to provide security cover to the village.
Before the engagement of security forces in the area, the pradhan and the villagers attacked Laloiphai village twice on February 25 and on March 1 destroying houses and injuring a pregnant woman, Kipgen alleged.
Calling the incident a 'big threat' to all the communities settled in Sadar Hills, the student body demanded that the Moidangpok pradhan and his followers to spell out their ulterior intention behind the attacks.
"The callous activities of the pradhan and his followers are legally wrong and it emphatically violated the laws of the land and truly went against human rights", Kipgen added.
The president further warned that the pradhan and his followers would solely be held responsible for any untoward incident in case similar communal activities are repeated in the future.
The student body added that similar communal activities have been committed periodically from time to time without clear underlying principle.
With no intervention from the State Government on the matter till date, the student body said it would hold the State responsible for any problematic situation arising out of such incidents.
The body further said that they would respond to the attacks in a more violent form in case the pradhan and his men do not refrain from such activities in the future.
