Imphal, March 04 2015:
Rather than giving the contract of supplying furniture items to Government colleges to two firms selected after due process of tender, a new process is being allegedly undertaken to give the contract order to a man close to the concerned but who did not take part in the tender process.
Tender notice for supplying 12 furniture items to Government colleges was issued on January 19 this year.
Sealed tender bids were opened on February 12 .
Out of five firms which took part in the tender process, two firms were selected for the contract work.
Modern Furniture Producer Development Cooperative Society and Palace Carpentry Works were selected for supplying the furniture items.
However, rather than giving the supply order to the two firms, the Minister concerned has initiated a fresh process to give the supply order to an individual close to him who did not take part in the tender process.
The two firms have appealed to the State Vigilance Commission to look into the matter and ensure that the supply order is not given to any unqualified individual/firm through fraudulent means.
