Imphal, September 02 2014:
The Aimol Tribe Union (ATU), in a press statement issued by the union's president, stated that the land, along the road from Pallel Keithel to Aimol Kangoi village No.52 (Pallel), under the southeast Government land mark No.2366, 2354, 2465 and 2427 is a State land.
The officials and the related authority involved in the issuance of forged ownership documents for the particular State land must be punished as per the law of the land.
The union informed that people are running shops and few others have built houses on these lands illegally.
It is very unfortunate, the press release stated, that some of these people have managed to get forged land documents on the basis of which, they intervened the eviction order for the road widening process in the area issued by the SDO of Kakching on August 26 .
SDO, Kakching gave the notice of eviction to all encroachers in the area by August 26 after an appeal from Aimol Students' Union to broaden the road to Aimol Kangoi, it added.
The alleged encroachers, however, claimed that they did not get any notice of eviction asserting that some of them even owned the area they were living in.
ATU, however, maintained the claims made by the alleged encroachers as faulty.
It further stated that all the related legal documents of the land which implies that it's a State property has been gathered by ATU.
The union, therefore, appealed Government and related authority to investigate and initiate eviction process as early as possible.
